The Perfect Fit
Pope shirts are stylishly tailored, meaning that they slope down from the shoulders in a natural V shape. For some extra waist room, I have incorporated darts to the rear of the shirt that can be easily picked open for some extra girth.
I recognise that a POPE shirt will not fit every man’s size or shape, but I have endeavoured to facilitate most gentleman’s physiques at any age.
My advice is that if you are an athletic type of build, without too much width around the waist, then take your usual size that you get with other brands, ie Medium, Large, XL etc.
If you are slightly bigger in the waist, through years of good living, then maybe opt for a size larger.
I am traditionally a 17-17.5-inch collar with a 46- 48 inch chest and about a 39-40 waist in a trouser, so the POPE XL sized shirt is a perfect fit for me. I am also 6ft 3 in height, so the sleeve length is also perfect.
In fact, long sleeves are another unique selling point for my shirts, and especially suited for those guys that can never seem to find shirt sleeves long enough to suit. Weeks ago, I fitted a rugby player who was 6ft 10 tall, the POPE 2XL sized shirt fitted him perfectly. Another satisfied customer.
If you are more of a stocky, solid type of build, with shorter arms but a large neck and chest, then the detail in a POPE shirt is in the collar and cuff, so if the sleeves are ever too long for the body size, then the POPE shirt is styled accordingly, just to turn the cuff up and show off the finer detail of your POPE shirt.
